I am Ben Williams and this is my story.
Sports has always been a passion of mine. I played football and baseball in high school and was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles. After retiring from the NFL, I became passionate about bodybuilding, health, and nutrition.
In 2015, I was diagnosed with kidney disease, hypertension, and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
Despite my diagnosis, I have not slowed down in the slightest, and I continue to push forward with my life mission.
Today, I am fighting for another team. Those individuals who have been diagnosed with or are at risk of kidney disease, hypertension, and CTE.
The values and discipline instilled in me as a child have given me the confidence and courage to step forward and help others who are not as fortunate in managing their diseases as I am.
I have always had the unique opportunity to turn nothing into something, and something into amazing. I am doing just that with the Ben Williams Foundation.
This game isnt over by any means for me — nor will it ever be — for this is my legacy.
I am dedicated to making sure that I help everyone on my team at the Ben Williams Foundation, helping kidney patients, living donors, CTE and hypertensive patients and their caregivers, to victoriously cross the end zone.
A Passion for Helping Others:
My diagnosis inspired my current efforts in the medical and healthcare field. I now focus my time and effort on educating those also affected. I am diligently working on a convenient quality healthcare plan to help people afflicted with kidney disease, high blood pressure, CTE and other diseases. This convenient, affordable, alternative quality health care service, Off the Field, helps those who are otherwise left standing without medical care.
Downs and Making it to the End Zone – A Will to Make a Difference:
I am leading the defensive line in hoping to limit kidney disease. Helping my team at the Ben Williams Foundation gain the yards necessary to fight kidney disease, hypertension, and CTE. I love and am rewarded by my will to make a difference. Hoping I can bring a sense of relief to people who need medical attention and also bring awareness and education to those in need.
It pays to be a winner!
I personally understand what kidney patients go through. I too, came face-to-face with my own mortality at my diagnosis.
“I was depressed. No one took the time to educate me on the different stages of kidney disease and hypertension. I envisioned my life sitting in a hospital having dialysis all day, or even worse, death.” – Ben Williams
Does this sound familiar? If yes, know that you can overcome those feelings with knowledge and education as I myself did.
The End Zone:
I am building the Ben Williams Foundation not only into a long-lasting credible source of education, research, and development in the areas of CTE, kidney disease, and hypertension but I will be also providing an affordable alternative to mainstream health care. Creating a quality of life not only for the people afflicted with kidney disease, hypertension and CTE but to any individual who is left stranded without affordable and quality health care.
